Specialty lenses, fitted to you
Hard contact lenses are made to your measurements and prescription.
Gas-permeable lenses (RGP)
Rigid lenses that keep their shape and do not stick to the eye like soft lenses. Used to correct vision, including some cases of irregular astigmatism, and usually made to the measurements of your eye.
Scleral lenses
Larger rigid lenses that rest on the white of the eye rather than on the cornea. Used in specific cases such as keratoconus and some eye-surface problems; they need specialist fitting and measurements.
Hybrid lenses
A rigid centre with a soft edge, combining the optics of a hard lens with the comfort of a soft one. Fitted according to your eye measurements and your doctor’s assessment.
Rose K and Menicon
Specialist lens systems for keratoconus and irregular corneas (Rose K) and rigid gas-permeable lenses from the Japanese maker Menicon. Models are confirmed with the manufacturer before they are offered.
